The Healing Power of Generosity

Elijah and the Widow of Zarephath

But Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid! Go ahead and do just what you’ve said, but make a little bread for me first. Then use

what’s left to prepare a meal for yourself and your son. For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: There will

always be flour and olive oil left in your containers until the time when the LORD sends rain and the crops grow again!”

1 Kings 17:13-14 (NLT)

1. WE CAN BE GENEROUS AND HOSPITABLE EVEN WHEN WE DON’T HAVE MUCH.

So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her family continued to eat for many days. There was always enough flour and olive oil left in the containers, just as the LORD had promised through Elijah.

1 Kings 17:15-16 (NLT)

  • NO TRUE SPIRITUAL LIFE IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT A GENEROUS HEART.

2. SOW SACRICIALLY AND REAP SUPERNATURAL RESULTS

Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, “Look, your son is alive!” Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from

your mouth is the truth.”

1 Kings 17:23-24 (NIV)

3. A LIFESTYLE OF GENEROSITY OPENS DOORS OF HEALTH AND HEALING. WE ALL HOLD THE POWER TO HEAL.

Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the LORD your God will bless you in everything you do.

Deuteronomy 15:10 (NLT)

Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you.

Deuteronomy 16:17 (NKJV)
